A beautiful day in central Victoria.

The cooler weather is starting to make itself felt in the mornings now. 3 of us had a day out in Castlemaine, Australia. I was the only one fortunate enough to find anything and they were small. That is the nature of the gold in this area and we have flogged it for the past 2 years, covid lockdowns permitting.
I got 2 small pieces.
The larger piece is about 0.2 gram and the smaller one just a smidgen under 0.1 gram. It is getting much harder to find anything at this spot but I still manage to get something.

I thought I was going to have the privilege of being the first Australian to post her, but some mongrel from Western Australia beat me. He certainly beat me on size.

Regards Axtyr.

LOL...... yea but your post is just as beautiful, we never get tired of seeing colour, thank you for sharing.

Nice pieces, were they found with the 7 and that coil? Have you used the new Nugget Finder coil for our Zed's yet, if so, what do you think? I love it for even just the fact it doesn't sound so hollow as the original coil when scrubbing the ground, that noise does my head in as i don't use headphones and it's non stop, the new NF feels much more solid. Great photo, thank you for sharing.... been a few years since I was in the Whipstick, I'll have to get back down, my Vic Miners Right is still valid and I'm a multi year paid up member of PMVA so should get back for a bit of a scratch.

Jen, I've always just used the standard coil. I could never justify the expense of the 19" coil or the X coils. I also mostly use Steve Herschbach's (I hope I spelt that correctly, apologies if not) extremely hot settings when I can. Lots of mineralisation over here but I am surprised how well they work, albeit noisy.

OH I tell you what, I've found more gold with Steve's Balls to the Walls settings than I can remember.. I agree with you there... if you can run full out... absolutely the best way to run.

I find if you go above 17 on the 7000 sensitivity then it’s a good idea to introduce some Audio Smoothing (LOW only) to settle the threshold and maybe back off the target volume a bit to take the high sensitivity jitters out of things, this then allows the broader deeper target signals to come through. Works well for me in the homogeneous ground.

Wooooo HOOOOOOOOOO another new member..... welcome LowHigh.... thanks for joining... Yes, I agree with you... I've found that anything over 18 is a loss due to noise, that said... I did find that when I moved over to the Nugget Finder Z-Search I could go all the way up with no noise and could run it a few steps above the stock coil with less noise.

Thank you again for joining, super excited to read more of your posts.

@LowHigh ... do you have any experience with the 17" x 13" NF for the 7K? I have the original Z-Search and LOVE it but wasn't keen on the 17"x13" just cus the look through me off. I'm in scrubby country so ordered one and it arrives tomorrow.... do you know anyone who's used one? They seem to be pretty awesome....

Where are you at Axtyr, out getting more of that Zed gold?

Thanks LowHigh, I will give that a try next time I am out. I rarely use the sensitivity below 20, only changing between Normal and Difficult. Where those pieces came from it is Difficult only but it is only small shallow pieces anyway.
