Howdy from Texas

Howdy y’all! As you might’ve guessed I live in Texas.. Anyway I get out to the big Az every chance I get to detect for gold! I recently fell into a great deal on a GPX6000 and have already done pretty well considering how little time I’ve had with it. Back home I have a Manticore and a Deus 2 and tend to like the adventure side of detecting such as searching for lost or hidden caches or the like. Sometimes I get out to more mundane places just to scratch the detecting itch, but gold prospecting has definitely taken over everything else!

I also have a YouTube channel by the same name as my forum handle. I’m trying to get more videos out with some interesting content, but I tend to work too much, lol! You know, saving for that next Az trip!

Thanks for joining Randy, welcome.... are the Bradshaws your main hunting ground when you come to Arizona?

Congrats on the 6k. Are you aware of the recall for speaker interference? I had a 6k and it was bad out of the box so it went back, they've now realized what the issue was and are fixing machines, yours may not be affected but here's the info..... everyone seems to be very happy with the performance when they come back from the service center.

Their site makes it hard to do a direct link but it can be found under "Update" on the Minelab site, GPX6000 area.

GPX 6000 SPEAKER AUDIO

26th Aug 2022

Minelab has identified infrequent cases where users hear audio feedback when using the internal speaker. Please refer to the product notice on our website by clicking on the link below.
https://www.minelab.com/support/product-notices?article=482551
Minelab have produced a hardware update that removes this effect. This update is present in all newly manufactured GPX6000s.
In the event you have a production standard without this update and have experienced audio feedback when using the speaker please follow the procedure below in Australia to arrange for this update to be completed on your detector.
Please note for maximum performance headphones should be used. Headphone performance is unaffected with this update.
